A few steps from Ponte Vecchio, on Lungarno Serristori, the Association for Art and Culture – “Casamonti Collection” inaugurates its new exhibition venue at Palazzo San Giorgio, opening to the public on September 28, 2026, with an exhibition of contemporary artworks curated by gallerist Roberto Casamonti.

The new venue, a nineteenth-century building historically associated with the nearby Palazzo Serristori, has undergone a restoration and adaptive reuse project designed by Archea Associati, conceived to accommodate the collection’s new permanent display.

Today, the “Casamonti Collection” presents around 250 works by masters of Italian and international art, dating from the late 19th century to the present day. The exhibition unfolds across 28 rooms on two levels of the palazzo, taking visitors on a journey through different movements, generations, and artistic languages. The display alternates historical groupings, dialogues between artists, and in-depth explorations of the major stylistic and artistic developments of the 20th century and contemporary art.

Over the years, the collection has grown through Roberto Casamonti’s constant curiosity, turning its attention both to the great protagonists of 20th-century art and to more recent developments in 21st-century art. Artists represented in the collection include, among others, Giovanni Boldini, Giacomo Balla, Giorgio de Chirico, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, René Magritte, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, Lucio Fontana, Alberto Burri, Piero Manzoni, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Bill Viola, Marina Abramović, Anselm Kiefer, Anish Kapoor, and Maurizio Cattelan.

The project was conceived with the aim of sharing Italian and international contemporary art with the city of Florence and its international audience. From its origins, and even more so with the opening of its new venue, the “Casamonti Collection” strengthens its position among Italy’s leading private institutions dedicated to contemporary art, and, in particular, to the city of Florence.
